I'm using the Amsoil (since I sell it).

There are other suitable oils depending on what you are looking for .....

Contact either myself or whowey ( At this point ... I am not sure who else sells Amsoil on this board ).

My '99 Cherokee Owner's Manual says you can go 7500 miles between oil changes. I don't do that, though. I change about every 3,000 or 3-4 months. But I also don't use synthetic.

Is there any other benefit to using synthetic other than the longevity?

Lubes better, cleans better, longer interval between changes which saves money, and a little power/mileage bump.

Last night at Walmart I saw synthetic Rotella 5W40, but I've never seen diesel 5W30.

It lasts way longer, doesn't sludge and can actually clean sludge out of an engine from running conventional oil on too long of intervals.

They make it, its just not easy to find because most diesels are in big tractor trailers. Running diesel oil will benefit an engine because its engineered to take the abuse of a diesel engine, so a gasoline engine would be easy work for the oil.

Fullsynth is better than "high milage" oil. High Milage isn't all its cracked up to be...and full synth puts it to shame in almost every category except price. although full synth is a better value for the money

Cool

God I love a good debate! However, I have listened to this one for over 25 years. I run Rotella in my 1985 Mack R685 Tractor and change it every 10,000 miles...BTW it holds 42 quarts! I run 5/30 syn in the jeep and change at normal intervals and I add a quart every week to my 90 F150 for the last 2 years(never changed anything but the filter). The only truth about engine oil is....Change it a regular Intervals regardless of the type used..period.

i dunno, i say that really just depends on so many factors, like how clean the engine internal are now, how hard do you drive it, operating conditions, etc. when i first got my jeep, the previous owner had done all kinds of dumb-assed things with it, even mixing the viscosity of the oils he used (major red flag). when i switched to synthetic, i changed it every 3k and put a new filter on everytime as a way to "detox" the engine. after it started running clean, i would change every 7,500 miles or so, and put a new filter on at about 3-4K. been doing that for 4 years now, and it still runs like a champ for a stock motor.

lol, and i thought my grandpa was the only one who did this when he still had his old 1979 Ram pick up. the block had a crack in it, and every month he would add a quart of oil and change the filter every 3k.

Mike
Now THAT is an honest answer

Thats what i usually use in my Bronco2.
Been using PennsoilPlatinum 10-30 in the Jeep, but thinkin about switchin to RTS in it too.

3 gallon jugs will do both with a quart to spare!!
Besides Rotella kicks ****!
