Default Swing out tire carrier?

Has anyone tried to modify a swing out tire carrier from something like an s10 blazer and putting it on an xj. I searched threads and only found tire carriers mounted on bumpers or tow hitches, that won't work since I plan on regularly using the tow hitch. I know about the roof racks too but I tend to use that for a canoe

Yeah, cant remember years but I believe bronco's are used. Or if you find a stock xj one, but they are far and few.

Its not strong enough for offroad use, the bolts will tear through the body...Thats why they all are bumper mounted and stout.

What if you were to install a backing plate behind the quarter panel? I know I had a motor mount for my sailboat which had 6 bolts going thru the fiberglass which was thin, and it had a quarter inch thick wooden backing plate. It held a 100lb motor fine when you lifted it (the mount wasn't spring loaded either)

There is always a way to do it. Just depends on what you want and if you are ok with it not being perfect.

I removed my bumper mount on mine because it didn't seem strong enough to carry a 32"
