Wait what I told u was wrong! Sorry. I connected the hot from the lights to the remote wire on the amp. That way they will come on whenever the amp comes on and go off when the amp goes off

Hooking up LEDs to your subwoofer on the subwoofer's cables to the amp is how you get them to light up to the beat of the song, but it is dangerous as it can blow your amp or sub up from short circuiting. If you want to hook them up so they go to the beat the safest thing to do would be to connect them with a switch so they will only work when you want them too. There is no harm done if it is only for a short duration (10 minutes) but when it's continuously lighting up to the beat is where the dangerous factory comes in to play

I personally would just go ahead and set it up with a switch, no fuse or anything else. I plan on doing this if I get another sub since the amp I plan on buying is a 2 channel. I'm not an expert I just read a lot into things that I am curious about. So i can't tell you much about getting into fuses too, but that just sounds more work that necessary imo
