subaru... ha!
just posted in YKYDAXJ about my dislike of subaru, but now its time to elaborate...
lets see, where to begin.. with the pro's i guess
-it handles corners real well for a wagon
-the heat works well
-projector headlight
ok, thats all i got... now the neg's
-cheap, light metal
-SO low to the ground
-ABS... i put it into a snowbank last winter cause of this!!! drifting down a hill that has about a 30 yard flat spot at the end where it T's into the next road. well i came around the corner at like 60+, tapped the breaks and there went the ABS! not that the ABS was active, but that the ABS was freaking out not letting me apply ANY pressure to breaks without FULL ABS action!!! i literally had NO stopping power. so BAM, into the snowbank... it was up like a 30* slope so i slammed it into reverse and got off the bank, slammed in into gear and got around the next corner before stopping to asses damage- i didnt want anyone to get the plate number... the subby was actually ok! some minor alignment issues, but totally ok other than that... phew...
-did i mention ABS sucks?
-you sit low in the car itself, i feel like its eating me and im 6'2"
-really not that impressed with the AWD in it... its like so what, its AWD... ive got 4WD, what now? haha..
-more cheap material on the inside
-no guts, seriously, if im gonna be on a car platform, i prefer the honda minivan over the subby... its got better height, power and the interior is far more quality... really like that 3.2L V-tec... mmm...
ok, thats my not so humble opinion. chime in.. id love to see some counter points to my argument. i know some of us on CF have subby's as well... time to defend em!!

Dude, seriously, it is a car, not a Jeep. As for power, the Outback XT is quite fast and will eat almost anything on the road, and gets better with a turn of a 12mm wrench on the wast gate.

Easy solution....don't buy one. And you wanna talk about low to the ground? My dads x1/9 is like 6-8 inches off the ground.

I loved my subaru (2.5 RS) they arent the fastest but you cant beat the boxer rumble with a exhaust on it. Down side is the 2.5 engine eats head gaskets and just about every part is a deal part so you get bent over when you need to replace something. But i wish i still had mine... I never once got stuck in mine and it was fun going around trucks that couldnt make a icy hill and i zip right past them. ABS solution- pull the fuse.

One of my scout leaders bought a new Subaru and said he could go anywhere a Jeep could and more. Needless to say i found great humor in this and laughed pretty hard haha

The only scoobis worth owning are impreza wrx or better yet sti. they are amazing. its really easy to get power out of them and already have a really good suspension set up stock.

I have to disagree - Subarus in my opinion are the most off-road worthy wagons/cars ever built, and still being built. They aren't high off the ground, have abs, and have smaller engines because that is what they're supposed to be built like - that is what makes a Subaru a Subaru. They can get the job done while still reaping the benefits of being a car-based vehicle. Had I not bought an XJ, a Subaru would have been next on my list!
Also... sorry to say this, but most Subarus will most likely outlast Cherokees. Yes, our engines are bulletproof, but how many of us DON'T have body rust on our XJ's? I see so many high-mileage Subarus still going like new, reaching up into the high 200k and mid 300k even. Yes, we see a lot of that on here in the forums, but in person I've never actually seen an XJ reach that
