I love the look of a stubby bumper but the lack of protection has me second guessing getting one. I still have the stock bumper so it's not like it provides much protection.
What's you guys thoughts on them?

If its a tail rig thats already beat up i would use one,More of a daily driver/ off roader id want full front coverage like http://www.dirtboundoffroad.com/extr...erokee-xj.html or http://trailready.com/bumpers/jeep_cherokee.html or maybe jcr.

I killed my header the first time out with my stubby. The plan is to tie the stubby into my cage in the near future and trim the header down, so it doesn't much matter to me at this point. Do what you like and deal with the consequences when they arise.

I put a couple tubes sticking off the sides of mine. I can't go rock bashing on them but they have definitely saved my header panel a couple times (turn signal lenses can't be saved tho)
and I still maintain that "stubby" look. I love it. plenty of approach angle, I can't stand big bulky honkin bumpers

I saw that pic in your build thread. That's what worries me. Where did you get those wheels?

My header panel used to get ripped off every time I went offroading. Backing out and the side or bottom gets caught on something and it ends up just hanging on the headlight cable. Got a new bumper since but I need a new header and two new fenders .
