Stock xj prices
What are mostly stock, rust free xjs going for in yalls area?
All of what I'm seeing are either heavily modified ( lifts, trimmed fenders and bumpers) or rotted out stockers.
Lifted xjs with over 200k on them seem to be in the 4500-6k range omegle

I paid $3.5k, rust free, lifted 2 inches otherwise stock, with a known motor issue. I ran it for 3 months then tore into the motor. I am waiting on motor to get back from builder and then putting it in. I figure with everything new under the hood another 3k in parts, including the machine shop to build the new motor. I figure all together I'm right around that $6-6.5k mark

It can vary depending on where you sell it. If you have a near mint, stock XJ with less than 100,000 miles on Bring A Trailer, it will easily get ten grand. If you are selling something locally, you would get less than that. It seems that many people prize originality, although I think rust would take off quite a bit from the price.
I had a guy pull up and stop in front of my house while I was working on my Ranger in the driveway with the XJ uncovered further back. He rolled down his window and asked if it was for sale. I politely told him no, then he went into his spiel about how he buys and sells cars, and he pushed and said "give me a number". I told him "For $10,000, I would sell it." He then realized I didn't want to sell it and pulled away.

With rising gasoline prices, (thanks brandon) our jeeps are becoming more and more worth only their scrap metal value.*
* of course if the jeep gas tank is full, add another $120 to the vehicle's value. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Just paid $1,500 for a 1999 with 145k miles stock about a year ago. Really hard to find any jeeps below 4k. Traded a project car for my 92 lifted which was about 3-4k about 5 years ago. Depends on the area and the people you know. People here in the northwest love selling XJ's that are all torn to hell with no fenders and a massive lift. Almost a gold mine to find a stock unless you go down to Oregon where they're plentiful

Really? That high? I have a stock 89 XJ 4x4 4.0 auto with 124,000 miles. I got it in August 2015 with only 78,000 miles on it from an elderly man.
I stopped to ask about it. Long story short, him and his wife ended up giving it to me because it didn't run. Just needed a fuel pump. I was lucky once in life and I am grateful for that.
So far I haven't had to do anything major to it. I did a head gasket job on it when doing other stuff. It wasn't leaking. I've cleaned the grounds a number of times. Changed the wind shield wiper motor. The trac bar. Head lights. Transmission control unit from a junk yard. And various other little parts and stuff. Basically I just try to keep it running decent and pray nothing major happens to it.
I've had an oil leak the entire time I've driven it. I just never let it leak less than the add. About a quart every 4 to 8 weeks. The way I see it, I know I keep fresh oil in it haha.

Definitely depends on your personal preference of the jeeps condition vs price. Are you looking for something stock or something thats already had some work done to it? Personally i wouldn't entertain modified jeeps unless they're cheap and then the purpose is clear - beaters. Run of the mill sub 200k mile jeep and id say your prolly looking around the $2k-$3500 mark

I sold my stock 2001 2wd XJ before the price spike (2 years ago?) for $4500. Cant even imagine what it would be worth today. It even had 230k miles on it.

This is my (Original Owner) 88 XJ, for insurance purposes I auctioned it on EBAY with a high reserve price so it wouldn't sell, it ended at $10,000.00. It has 305,000 miles with a 3" lift, this was done because the suspension front and rear were weak, this is the only major mod.
