Steering isssue

Done fixing on my buddy's '92. There's a rubber filled coupler toward the steering column end of the shaft that has failed. The shaft was removed, welded the coupler and reinstalled.

I had the same problem. Except mines had a cracked frame. Where the steering gear bolted up.

X2 mine has the exact same problem with that rubber filled coupler. Seems like a lot of people over look that when checkin the miniature u joints on that shaft. Good to know that it can be welded as a fix. Ill be doing that tomorrow

ya'll sure that isn't the collapsible section that keeps the steering column from impaling you in a wreck? I'm sure you can buy a replacement rubber coupler.

lol,thats a good point. I think the rubber is suppose to be molded to the shaft but I'm guessing that it may have gotten old and came undone over time. I may just go ahead and replace the entire shaft cause I notice the little u joints have a little bit of play in them as well.
