Default Starter problems *HELP*

When I go to start my 95 5 speed it makes that annoying loud noise and when I turn the key it just clicks then I turn the key back and the noise becomes very faint idk if I should pull my starter out or alternator or replace it from a 99 my jeep dosent even turn over some please help!

Just had a similar issue. I'd go to crank and just get a loud spinning sound. It would crank sometimes, otherwise just make that loins noise. Ended up being the starter. Got it repaired for $40 from a mechanic friend that does only starters and alternators.

Thanks would a starter from a 99 xj work if mines a 95?

I'm not sure about that part. I did a check on Advance Auto Parts and checked a starter to see if it would fit the years. The 95 checked out but not the 99 so I don't think they will share with each other. Jeep didn't teach them that in grade school

The starter relay connections are different between 95 and 99. It would be easier to modify the 99 to take a 95 starter than it would be to modify the 95 to take a 99 starter.
