I have two 1" tweeters in the dash, two 5 1/4's (3-way) in front doors, two 6x9's (3-way) in the rear hatch. Opened up the 5 1/4 holes to fit the 6x9's. And a 10" sub in the rear passenger side pocket. All Rockford Fosgates. Very happy with the sound.

That I'll admiitte took me four afternoons to do. First afternoon; I pulled the interior door trim on the jams off. And the door panels, along with the rear hatch. Oh ya! and the headliner (needed to be repaired anyways). Second afternoon; I ran the wire. 2 pos. leads (1 for amp 6 ga., 1 for head unit 16 ga.), 1 neg. lead (for amp. 6 GA.) off the battery. Into in the passenger compartment, 1 heavy GA. pos. & neg. run all the way to the rear seat compartment. Under the door jam trim (there's a channel there to run it in) on the passenger side. Under the door jam trim on the driver's side, from rear seat to the dashboard. I ran 3 set of RCA cables (amp to head unit. rear seat to center of dashboard)), 1 blue 16 GA. (amp. on/off control wire, rear seat to center of dash board), 2 sets of 16 GA. (left & right front door speakers, thru their kick panels, rubber sleeve, into L & R doors.) I marked booth ends of all wires, So I knew which where front or rear, L or R speakers, and where to run them. When I got to the dash. they other 3 sets 16 GA.(2 rear speakers, 1 sub) of speaker wire, I ran under the rear passenger side pocket panel. Sub wires stop here, The rear hatch wire ran under the corner post trim. Up to the rest of bunch for the rear hatch (lic. plate, old speaker wire) Because I was pulling out old speaker wire, I would tape the new wire to the old. And use that to fish them through the rubber sleeves. Third afternoon; I mounted the speakers, and installed the head unit. All wires I had left extra long (except RCA cables) so I could cut them to length. As I mounted the speakers, and put terminals on the ends. And made sure every thing worked right. Fourth afternoon; I finished modify the hatch panel, the sub mount panel, and replaced the rest of the interior panels, and trim. (except the headliner stuff, which I fixed a day later. And Installed) Because my XJ has only 67k, I plan on keeping it for a long time. I'm not planning on pulling the back stereo out. It looks and work like a factory job.

I took my time. It was not hard, I already knew where I wanted things be mounted. Ran all the wiring extra long, and cut them to length as I mounted speakers & amp. Except I'm going to paint the grilles Grey to match the interior. (There black right now) Don't want it to look like there's anything of value in it.

I used some JY 6.5s in my hatch. I trimmed the speaker mounting ring to fit into the slot. The speakers are cheap pioneers. I found one really nice JVC that sounded great but some body took the other three that were in the cherokee I pulled it out of.
