Default speaker and amp help

trying to ditch the blown and crappy speakers currently in the jeep and upgrade to a nice pioneer set up. I dont know alot about speakers and amps and how they work but after reading up I kinda understand. I already picked out these speakers :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/390689372298...84.m1423.l2649

I want to keep the stock head unit as I like the stock look, so i know i need an amp. I found this one and based on what i read about amps and speakers, it should work. I just wanna make sure i wont blow the speakers as It looks like it might be overpowered for the speakers i have (?) Would this amp work?

Any help and input would be great. thanks!

If you've made up your mind go for it. You don't have to worry about "over powering" the speakers with the amp because it's power output is adjustable. However, 1200w for 4 door speakers is a little crazy. You could run two solid 12's on that kind of juice. Look for something under 500w unless you plan on running subs.
I would really recommend getting a new headunit instead of the amp, you'll get just as good of a sound, if not better this way. That crappy factory deck is killing your sound. IMHO. Running new speakers, smaller amp, and a decent headunit is ideal. Sony makes good stuff these days, minus the "xPlod" crap.

you cant just amp a factory head unit, theyre not made to work that way. unless you have the infinity gold setup from the factory you might be able to remove the factory amp and add your own one.

also, peak power is BS fwiw. that amp you linked is 100x4@4ohms, which is good power. im not a fan of pioneer speakers.

Yeah I know max watt is bs. Gotta look at RMS if im not mistaken. And the pioneer website says that amp is made to work with stock headunits. I thought you could hook up an amp to a headunit? Helped my friends in a wrangler do it.

This is a neat lil setup to give mids a boost... I've heard it in person and sounded great for what it is... easy to stuff under the dash outta waters way..

You can run to the stock headunit. Just get the wiring diagram to save the headache. The infinity package was crap, and the new pioneer stuff isn't what it used to be. Sure hop on FleaBay and all of the reviews are going to be great, over stock worn out speakers like the ones they're being compared to. There are much better brands out there; massive, soundstream, digital design. Check it out.
