Spartan locker
I'm looking at lockers for my 92 4.0 with 8.25 rear/D30 front. I was on rockauto.com and saw a Spartan locker for the 8.25, but am unsure whether I need 27 or 29 spline. How would I be able to tell, aside from opening it up? Assuming there are other methods...

Most will say front but I had my rear first so I really can't say if the front would have been better. Either will make a pretty big difference over an open carrier.

Well this is my daily driver and I was reading up on it and read front can be dangerous in slippery road conditions. Thoughts?

I think fringe should come with a warning label. Think of all those women and cowboys with fringe on their clothes traveling on slippery roads...

I've had some sketchy and very annoying instances DD'ing my front spartan. On loose gravel, wet roads or sometimes just backing out of the driveway it will lock up and either unload and BANG or just stay locked and make it very difficult to steer. Usually it's fine on dry pavement but if you live in an area with snow I'd say go with a rear locker. After installing mine i don't plan on driving my jeep in the snow and I'll be getting a new DD soon. Everything was to spec when I installed, my front driveshaft u joints are a little squeaky and I'll be needing new brakes soon, but I don't see that having a huge impact on the behavior of the locker. Pulling into my driveway once my locker decided to grab and nearly pull me into my dads truck. This is my experience at least, others claim to never notice it there in 2wd.
