Spark Plugs - Again
I was looking at the on-line Champion spark plug listing for their Iridium plugs. Found some interesting stuff so I revised my Spark Plug Chart (see pic) to show the Iridium part numbers by year.
What I found interesting is that the Iridium plugs are the same from 1991 to 2001 - heat range 12. Also, that the 1991 and 1992 Champion Copper plugs changed from RC9YC to RC 12LYC.
I bought a set of RC12WEPB5 plugs to try out in my '99 just to see what difference they make from the NGK ZFR5N plugs I currently use - probably nothing.

I was looking at them on Summit's site. Once in a while they offer free shipping. I'm so tight my a-hole squeaks so I keep looking around for a good deal.
Didn't think about Jeggs.
No...I haven't got them yet.

Well, so much for those sorry a$$ Iridium plugs. I put a set in the other day and my motor went nuts. Took it on a mini tour around the hood until the oil got good and hot then pulled in the driveway and popped the hood. The motor was shaking and rattling/clanking like mad. Shut it down.
Today I pulled the POS plugs. The ground electrodes were white like they were over heating. Maybe that was the clanking I heard....detonation.
I put a new set of NGK ZFR5N plugs (like I have been using) back and now the motor runs normal.
I deserve to be slapped for leaving the NGK fold to begin with.
That's TracyK. LOL
