I have a Smittybilt spare tire carrier for my 2001 XJ. I have already discovered that even top rated spare tire covers are largely cheap junk from China. The one I tried out today (that has a 4.3 rating on Amazon) broke the first time I tightened the strap. After a lengthy time searching the web, I am convinced that even covers made for various top-rated carriers are mostly the same cheap China garbage. I am looking for a cover that is heavy duty and stays on once it has been tightened down. I would prefer a soft cover, unless there are hard covers worth the high price. Any recommendations out there?
