sound system bug
So a few weeks ago my stereo just stopped working completely. I thought it was a problem with the head unit so, I shipped it in as it was still under warranty. I called and asked what was wrong and they said the unit was functioning perfectly. And to check my speakers with a volt meter. I did, and found the right rear was extremely low on ohms. And when I tested it to ground it was the only one that came up with a reading. I removed the right rear speaker and received the head unit in the mail today. Plugged it in and still no sound. I've been without music in my rattle box for about 2 weeks and I'm really looking to solve this asap. Please help, if you need some more info on brands and stuff I can give it to you

What ohm readings are you getting on the speakers? Should be somewhere between 2 and 10. (you won't get a terribly accurate reading as DVM's cannot measure impedance, but the DC resistance will be in the ballpark for test purposes)
If you are getting considerably higher readings, you may have popped the voicecoils or have a broken wire.
Quick and dirty speaker and wiring test: with the speakers disconnected from the head, momentarily connect a 9 volt battery to the speaker wires. You should get a solid THUMP from the speaker.

So... it ended up being the factory connection in the inner rear fender. Opened it, blew it out with compressed air, added some dielectric grease and viola I have sound again! I'm a very happy Jeeper

That's why I replaced all my sound system wiring. When i put in my new system. Can't trust the factory wiring to be intact yet. (OR what the PO might of done to it, Or the number of splices in it.) Besides factory is 18 gauge, and I wanted to switch it to 16 gauge.
