Basically everyone on this forum will agree...12k for an xj is beyond words insane..they are nice...sure..but worth about 7k at the VERY highest in my books. There are tons of mint ones with 60-80k on CL for like 4k

I drive a Saab in addition to my Jeep. A 1999 to be exact. One of THE MOST expensive cars to maintain according to most owners/previous owners/auto publications. Ask me how much i've dumped into that "money pit". The answer is nearly nothing because i maintain it properly. It DID need a turbo before 100k, which sucked, and cost $1500 total, but the car is loaded, clean, and treats my A$$ very well on long trips. that said, not every BMW or Porsche will drain your pockets either.

My point is simple; Jeep Cherokees have traditionally been undervalued but that is changing. That's all!
My proof is the market.
Sure, we all bought below what this guy is selling them at but the fact is, he is selling them. Rip off or not, there is an up-scale market for low mileage, clean Cherokees here in Houston and he is filing that niche.
What you should take away from this - Enjoy your Cherokee. Wash it and vacuum the interior. Clean the windows. Knock off some of the rust. Paint the bumper caps. Rub a little Armor-all on the tires. It may be worth more than you think!

What market? One guy in the whole US listing his XJs at double the price? Thats not the market. There are people with money who just happen to like the xj and dont care to spend more I agree, not everyone is looking to save money everywhere. So if he finds enough yahoos to buy cars at triple their value it doesnt all of a sudden change the market value. Also , how do we know what he actually is selling them for. I mean is it that far fetched that someone with a brain would negotiate him down to lets just say $8,000. He would still be making like $3000 on it, so maybe thats his approach.
You think 13k is a lot check out these prices. Granted, grand wagoneers are a decade or more older. They sure do look cool though and if I had that kind of money to throw around I would get one in a heartbeat.

heres another way of looking at it, if they were sooooo in demand for the upscale xj market, why would he even need to advertise them seems like there would be a line of people waiting to buy these exclusive autos. im suprised there hasnt been many rear end collisions in front of the dealership when people see these beauties
oh i forgot he probably keeps them on the showroom floor, with ropes around them
