$12,900? I know its only got 42k on it, but it's still 13 years old and hardly vintage.

You sir, don't know what you're talking about. Mine clearly says "Classic" right on the front doors...

I love mine too. I wonder if your mechanic would give me 12k for it?

It's no joke. Your BMW and Porsche will cost you many thousands to keep running. That's one reason such a sexy car sells for a relatively low price used. The market doesn't lie. Something is worth only what you can get for it. This guy is buying all the low mileage Cherokees he can find. He says it's getting harder and harder to make money on them because people are waking up to their value. He has auction hunters scattered around the country doing the leg work for him. He ships them to Houston for cleanup and re-sale. One possibility is that the market might be different down here since they are not as plentiful. BTW. He also said they have to be 4X4, "I can't even give the 2WD 's away."

Theres a dealer near me who has a red 99 sport w 60k on it for $5500 and a maroon 00 classic w 90ish k on it. $5000 for that one. i slid under em and the underside of both of them are pristine. ESPECIALLY for new england XJ's. The maroon one is mint w stock steel wheels and the red 99 is mint besides a few scratches on the rear bumper. It has the grey ecco's.

This is a horrible pic, but here they are.

I'd take either one and the $8,000 left over for mods. OR id get em both, spend the extra 3 lifting whichever one i decide not to DD.

With 3 million XJ's being produced, theyre HADLY in "demand". And certainly the ONLY ones that are "classics" are the ones that actually say "Classic" on the side of them. Sure, theyre a great vehicle, but there are so many of them on the road it isnt even funny. I dont care how clean and low the miles are. If its stock, $6K or so max. Sure, theyre are some crazy guys out there with enough money that they dont have to care, but lets be real here. You could buy a junked out XJ and get ALL NEW body panels, interior, floors, motor, trans, lift, wheels, etc., and only be into it for like HALF of the $13K price and youd literally have a brand new one. Hell, it would be far better than new because you could POR everything, undercoat it, lift it, put whatever you wanted for a lift, wheels, etc. Lets be real now.

People don't want tricked out. They want them bone stock.

Rated by Automobile Mag in the top 20 of all time.

Plentiful yes but highly undervalued until just recently.

Man, He is a car dealer, not your friend. He is lying to you to make a buck because that is the business. Auction hunters for cherokees hahaha. He buys them for $3000-$5000. And yes the market doesnt lie and you could only get what something is worth. Thats why nobody is getting 12k for their Jeeps. You are contradicting yourself in that sentence. Its not my BMW and not my Porsche by the way, and if you want to say that they are expensive to upkeep I will throw simpler ones your way: The same year Acura and the same year Lexus with the same mileage will cost you 12k. And those are the most reliable cars on the planet. And It of cours isnt about that. If you want a cherokee you want a cherokee, I get it. But you are making it sound like there is no better car to be had for 12k then a cherokee.

I drive a Saab in addition to my Jeep. A 1999 to be exact. One of THE MOST expensive cars to maintain according to most owners/previous owners/auto publications. Ask me how much i've dumped into that "money pit". The answer is nearly nothing because i maintain it properly. It DID need a turbo before 100k, which sucked, and cost $1500 total, but the car is loaded, clean, and treats my A$$ very well on long trips. that said, not every BMW or Porsche will drain your pockets either.

I know he's a car dealer and he buys cheaper than he sells but I'm telling you he is selling them and selling them high. He's not selling one to me. I couldn't afford them but I did drive one and it was slick.

BTW, Do you want an old Acura or Lexus? I sure don't. Have you ever priced a Lexus strut or an Acura timing belt replacement?

Also, my 2001 had the original window sticker folded up and tucked into the owners manual. Sticker price for an XJ Sport back then was $27,000.

We could argue back and forth all day about this... But the reality is, $12,900 is absolutely REDICULOUS. I paid $900 (nine hundred dollars) for my 1997 Country fully loaded. In case you didnt notice thats $12,000 less lol.

@Reece come up to the north chicago land. every other car on the road is a cherokee and dealers cant even sell cherokees for $5000 AND they are much nicer and lower miles then the ones this guy is selling. I have a 1992 i bought it for 3000 grand 3 years ago not even a spec of rust on it and everything worked so smooth on it. to this day i havent had to do any major repairs to it, just u joints and changing oil.
