It will eventually get hungry and come out on it's own. At least it's a garter snake and not something that bites.

It's just a garter snake, it will either leave or die. But if you really want it out, put on some gloves and start searching. Just remember to pull out any broke off teeth if he bites you.

I used to have a 4' corn snake at my old house, and threw a party. I fit pretty drunk and took the snake out of the tank to mess with a couple people, and eventually put it back.

Next morning I find the tank is empty...apparently I left the top unlocked and he pushed his way out and got loose in the house...never saw him again.

Pull out broken off teeth!?!?! Oh man, thats classic. Its a GARTER SNAKE, not a rattle snake. Unless hes about 8' long, if it bites you it wont even leave a mark. Ive been playing with those things since I was 3, no worries. Itll come out on its own, dont worry. If it gets stuck and dies, follow the smell to the carcass.

I'd say that the best way to take care of a snake overpopulation problem would be a prescribed burn of the interior twice a year...

Proper Jeep Management.
