I would not hestitate to run this same tire in 33 or 35 x 12.50. As a matter of fact I think my next set of shoes will be these kl71's in a 35 x 12.50 on a 10 inch wide rim. And yes, it's my daily driver, here in ohio. Where, as you can see in the pic I posted, we get plenty of snow.

I was running 40x13.50r 17 MTRs both on and off road in the winter sipped of course. 28 lbs on the road, 14 lbs for the rocks, and 10 lbs down to 6 lbs in the snow, never lost a bead or busted a tire. The rims were 17x9 with 4.5 inches of back spacing. Detroit lockers front and rear.

What axles and gears do you run?

That is on my Blazer running Dana 60 and 14bff. The thing I was getting at is deep snow calls for wide tires and low air pressure.

My son races a mud truck and has a tire sponsor so I got the tires and wheels for cost. Which is about the only way I could afford them

Go with a skinny tire. The wider tires don't go nearly as well. The wider you go the worse they are
for a stock xj how wide is to wide?

if i got some new rims with bs.. wood 245 + be to wide?

what do you guys think?

I'm running TSL on my flat fender size 32x9.50 15 Bias-ply and they do OK. I have them on a OutlawII 15x8 rims with 3.75 inch back spacing, and I had the centers siped. I had to run them down the highway with only 4 lbs of air for about 6 miles to get them warm enough to start flexing the side walls. If you want to run TSLs go with the radials.
A tire you may want to take a look at is the IROC radial, I went wheeling with a guy that had a Toyota with solid axles and 39 inch IROCs and he was going places I couldn't go with my 40 inch MTRs and making it look like childs play.
