Default Smells like poop.

Well the title says it all..kinda. My jeep smells like crap, no not literally like poop. It just smells really bad. Like my exhuast smells and the air coming out of the vent smells..Any ideas on how to fix this?

So and im pretty sure the PO smoked..and chewed. I had to dig dried chew/spit/crap out of the cup holder...

Thanks
-Zack

As a smoker, there are a few things to take the smell out. A good vacuum to start, if not take out the carpet entirely to air it out. Also, buy a couple onions, cut them in half, and leave about 2 to 3 in the truck overnight. It absorbs odors for some reason. Also, I used to use freeze's on the seats, with an odor eliminator.

On a sidenote, think of when exactly it smells. First thing in the AM? After a storm? My current DD XJ reaked after a storm, I knew I had a tiny rust hole in the roof too. Last week I decided to pull up the cargo bay carpet, and it was soaked, reaked so bad too. So I ripped it all out and bedlinered it.

What kind of smell is coming through the vents?

If you are saying that exhaust smells are coming through the vents then that could be from a cracked exhaust manifold. Same thing happened to me

Nah it not the smell of exhaust nor like mold,, It just smells like an old motor (like a really old one, before a rebuild)

Edit: I mostly smell it in the afternoon

What does an Old Motor smell like? lol

I use "super clean" when I clean my vehicles. makes it smell fresh and takes lots of stains out. I also use the same stuff to degrease my engine so be careful its alittle strong.

Turn the HVAC fan on hight and set the mode to fresh air, then spray your favorite scent of Lysol into the cowl on the passenger side. That will help kill some of the funk on the evaporator and may make the inside of your rig smell better.

If you run the A/C in recirculation (max) mode all of the time the evaporator will start to get moldy and stink. To get rid of that stink all you have to do is spray some Lysol into the cowl with the A/C set on fresh air and on high fan speed.

I gotta try that... I never use my A/C, but it does have a funny smell when I do...

Put some charcoal in a lil bucket and leave it under the seat...also baking soda..They both will draw out odors same as a refrigerator.

the cowl.......the little vents on the outside of your jeep, right in front of your windsheild. that is where your jeep draws air for the heat and air.
