depends on the person, Personally, i hate hondas, so your lucky.. i wouldnt trade my lawn mower for your car..

But without all the BS of being a jackass, ( i really am just kidding ) it sounds like a better deal for you then him. your trading a 94 for a 96..

keep this in mind, the Cherokee is the civic of the jeep world. just like your civic, they retain the same resale values, and they're is an over abundance of aftermarket support. the wrangler is the integra of jeeps, its just as populer as the cherokee, but a tad more expensive to work on.. but they are mainly the same vehicle just different bodys.

the camaro I bought for $500 (took some work to get it looking decent, and running better)

and the Cherokee I got from him as a straight up trade..

So if I were in your shoes I would trade, but that is me and I am a Jeep guy.. It's a lifestyle, once you have 1 you will want more.. I am sure many of the Jeepers on here will agree

As long as you are not one of those people who thinks you just hit the gas and go, I would trade.

If you enjoy working on vehicles, I would trade.

If you don't mind getting 20mpg or less, I would trade.

If you don't mind driving the coolest jeep ever, I would trade.

If you don't like any of the above, don't trade. Jeeps are like crack, you can't quit, they take over your life lol.

And if you do trade, this forum can answer any question you have about repairs and problems. There are also many other active XJ forums that can answer questions we can't.

Good luck. (we enjoy converting Honda owners)

Like it was already said, check the rockers and the floorboards good, dont be afraid to crawl underneath it and take a look around either.

Whel... a cherokee is a lot more bad *** than a civic. and it can do more stuff! but a jeep with that many mils is probally going to need some work. but on the other hand, he did just rebuild the engine and trans. (wich is what i just did) and i have replaced EVERYTHING. bc my jeep also has 230,000 miles on it. and all the little things like sensors and such had to be replaced to get it to run right. so he probally had some of the same senairos. when you rebuild an engine it comes with alot of other things you have to replace. like rad. water pump belts alternator... the list goes on. so i bet you that jeep is in pretty good shape! (as far as the mechanical side goes.) as for the enterior and the body, whel thats a different story. i would trade if i were you! just check for rust!

Alright guyz, i checked it out has almost no rust at all, it has been taken care of and been updated a lot, I dont think anything will be going very soon, but you think given the stats of my car: LX manual 5spd :160,000 miles condition good, for this jeep 275,000 miles body/ 80,000 miles on engine and tranny(good-great condition), is a fair trade? Let me know can always more jeeps out there!

what about the amount of miles on the body? I mean there is no rust and what has been updated on it is seen in my post.

I have 2 XJs with over 200k on the bodies and they are still in good shape despite a little floor rust on one of them.
