Yeah, lol - I know what you mean. I found a few things I didnt like, but luckily nothing structural.. no major rust or anything. Mostly I found little dead furry critters. The farmer obviously wasnt in the habit of rolling his jeep windows up on the summer nights.. it was his daily workhorse around the farm, and he just stuck in an old barn at night.. jeep was like a rolling petting zoo.!

I took mine out and rhino-lined the floor. It's nice because when it gets muddy I just hose it down lightly.

you did the job right and took every peice of trim off!. I wish Id done that, cause now im noticing little bits of superficial rust under some of my trim edges.. could have gotten that taken care of if id been a bit more thorough in the first place. Nice steering wheel by the way.. it looks different from the one I have on my 93.. is it stock?.

Try putting down a layer of lizard skin, then painting over it with bedliner. It is expensive, but it will cut down on noise and help with insulation.

It is expensive.. but sounds like it could be worth it. Expense is relative I guess. If you only need to do something once then its not really expensive even if it does cost a couple of hundred.. but if you need to redo something every 3 months, then I guess in the long run it isnt such a bargain..Ive book marked that link into my XJ folder... thats getting to be one BIG folder!.

I used Rustoleum spray on bed-liner on the outside of my jeep, and it holds up just fine, looks nice too!

No carpet sucks. I ran mine for a while without it. Hotter than hell, louder than hell. I recently pulled some nice used from a yard and put carpet back in it. Last trip was much nicer/quieter. Makes a TON of difference on the freeway, no carpet = no bueno in my book.

Yeah no carpet on the freeway gets pretty loud if you have a after market exhaust etc, but I really don't mind the noise, as for heat, well I have no AC so the summer should be fun....

I WOULD NOT do it as well.

My carpet was kinda nasty, and after reading, I decided to pull it because a lot of guys said it was fine. I did 5 coats on high heat/traffic areas, 3 on the rest. You can see it on my build thread.

It looked good, but it SUCKED. The noise was bearable, but the heat was terrible. I HATED driving my rig. I did not like taking my wife and son anywhere, because it was so hot. Sure it was easy to clean out, but I never got it wet enough to justify the daily heat. I put a shield around the muffler, but it was still hot around the tranny tunnel.

If your carpet is that bad, order the front half on ebay for about $130 shipped. That is what I did and it was much much better.
