Should I Buy?
Hows it going CherokeeFourm,
I feel I used to have an account here but can't seem to remember my credentials, its been awhile but anyway...
I was at the local junkyard looking for some some parts for my daily 1997 Cherokee. As I was walking out I noticed they were selling a running 1998 Sport with 174,000 miles that as far as I could tell only needed a few minor things (new hinge, new manifold). It had a very straight body and clean interior.
This would strictly be a flip and they were only asking $800... is it worth it? What should I look for?
Thanks!

I don't see why a scrap yard couldn't also have a dealer license. Then it would depend on how they bought it. I've been to several yards that had mini car lots out front or inside the yard near the building with running vehicles for sale. I doubt they would sell very many of them if people couldn't get them registered.
The ones I've seen would let you test drive them if you were a serious buyer.

$800 running and driving? If it is what you say it is, I'd say it's a good deal. Especially if you're just going to flip it. Rather see it go to someone that's going to drive it rather than it sit there for too long and the JY decide they're going to part it out.

I don't agree. Selling a vehicle without a clean title is tough. Most won't even come and look at it in my experience. Ones with salvage title sit on Craigslistfor sale for quite awhile even if they are priced fairly.
I sold my moms old car about 3 months ago with one easy,It was a 03 hyundia elantra with 90k miles on it.It was hit in the drivers quarter panel it was fixed right and drove prefect to me.I got her 3500 for the car which was close to top book value for it and i told everyone that looked at about the title. My pickup has one because it was stolen and they tore it up after they got it stuck in mud.But i didn't care its a 95 f250 i got cheap because of the title.
