To sell or not to sell the rig? Opinions?
Im somewhat new to posting on this forum but I thought Id give it a try. So a couple of months ago, I bought a jeep that I thought would be great for my first jeep. It was the basic red 1998 xj with 155k dana 30/ chrysler 8.25 combo, np231 tc, 4.5 RC lift full leafs, 32s, drilled and slotted rotors, aftermarket headers, custom quick discos, and brush guard. I got the jeep for $3400 cash. After a few months I got new wheels and tires, trimmed the fenders about 2 inches, put on a snorkel, wired up a CB, wired up some Hellas, and bedlined the bottom quarter of the jeep, now has 160k. Needless to say I have a soft spot for this jeep. But recently, a guy at my work said he wanted the jeep really bad and offered me $6500-$7000 for it. Yes, I know it is nowhere near worth that much but should I sell it? If I was to sell her, I would build another xj with 6.5 and 33s. Opinions?

It would have been gone as soon as he showed me the cash.
If someone offered me 7k for my DD right now I'd follow them straight to the bank.
Sell it. Build another one.

Thanks for the quick response! But this guy said he would "talk to his bank" which means he would probably have to take out a quick loan. With that being said, what type of jeep could be built with lets say $6500? What would YOU build just for some info? Thanks again

Well, you have 6,500 to spend.
Find a clean stocker for ~2,500.
Wheels and tires for ~1,000
Long arm lift of your choice ~1,500
Then you have 1k left over for what ever you'd like. (Gears)
You're not going to build a huge rig for $6,500 but you could build it how you want it.
If what you have now is exactly what you want then don't sell it.

Thanks Lowrange2 ! And what i have now is close to what i want, i just want something that stands out a bit more and is bigger. If I sold mine, i would get a decent stocker ($2500-$3000), put a RC 6.5 SA on, 33 Bfg Km2s (or something similar), summitracing 15x8s, SYE/extended driveshaft, snorkel, reese tow hitch, and possibly gears.

Here is my two cents. Take it for what it worth...I'm still shopping for my xj. Can you find a better base to build what you want? If so, sell it. You will have more pride in building it the way you want it. Forget the profit for a moment and do what feels right to you. Me personally, I'd SELL SELL SELL (if there was CASH CASH CASH). keep us posted.

I'd sell mine for 6500 in a heart beat. I would buy another stock one and do the same set up I have now but without the ****ty rc parts and I would get a 99 xj to replace my 95
