To Sell or not to Sell??
Hey guys just wanted some advice.. i purchased a 95 xj earlier this year. 4cy 5 speed 4x4.. I more or less stole it for $650!! and drove it home. Now it did need a little work, like i changed the front axle ujoints, rotors and pads, spark plugs, air filter, added fog lights, and detailed it up nice. Now my problem is that it has decent rust issues on the rockers, the floor, and some on the roof.. Other than that everything is completely mech sound... i dilemma is that i have a close family member wanting to buy it.. And i said i would take $1000 for it.. And honestly i would like to keep it but i know the rust is gonna take some work and $$.. so should i sell it and look for a newer lower mileage less rusty jeep or just keep and fix what i got??? thanx for any input guys.. i'll try to post up pics later

I think this is up to you and how much time/effort you want to put into it. If it was me I would sell it and get an XJ with a 4.0 and little to no rust, just because I like the extra power and I don't like fixing rust. In the end it is up to you.

if you do sell it, look for a 4.0 obviously. little rust, but be picky, a 97+ with a chrysler 8.25 rear end has the same strength as a dana 44 with less weight and more clearance. maybe you want a 5 speed? or maybe you want an auto?

i would like to find an auto 4.0 so the wife can drive it if she needs the 4x4, but i like the 5 speed better cause its stronger and cheaper to change the clutch, clutches in an auto tranny to replace can get very expensive and i know autos can be bad for slipn when they get hot... lead me the way you guys would go using the knowledge you know now...
also tell me what options should i look for when searching ( trans, motor, tach, aftermarket mods, skid plates, etc)
Thanx guys

You can also look at the 1996 models too. Get familiar with the different rear end cover looks and then you will be able to shop and find what you like with a good rear axle. I say this because my 1996 XJ Sport has a Chrysler 8.25 and it works great.

so is the 2.5 a bad motor?? or stay clear of them?? or is the 4.0 just that much better in hp and torque?? cause my little 2.5 gets up and goes as it is... but i also think it has 4.10 gears so that may be why too...?
