Rubicon Express on a 96
Ok Ive searched till I cant search anymore! lol I seem to get sidetracked on every post I start reading. Ive been reading the threads for a month now :-) I have a 96 auto 4x4. I have read TONS of good about the RE 3.5 lift kit. My main concern is RIDE, then looks. Not alot of flexing in the cornfields of Nebraska. I have a new set of 31 10.50s in the garage.
If I go with the RE kit + adj. trac bar what are the odds of DW. Has anyone reading this tried this set up, and what was the outcome? Are there other cheaper alternatives? Been working up a Zone kit also, but bt the time I add all the parts, the price is just a little higher. I will be replacing all Ball Joints, u joints, and Tie rod ends at time of the lift. As well as exhaust, and paint. LOL gotta blow my tax $$ on something. I drove a Ford for 25+ years, and this is my first XJ. Shoulda switched 24 11/12 years ago!! Is a SYE needed since its over the 3" mark?

I agree with most of this. DW is always fixable. And yes RE is a great company and you will be very happy with their products.
As far as them being light years ahead of Zone, Rustys, and rough country.... I would slow down. First, zone is a great company, I run their kit, and I have never ever heard a bad thing about them. It is also rumored that zone is made by BDS, which is a great lift company. Rustys and rough country do scare me a little bit cuz it seems like people either live them or hate them, and it seems like its about a 50/50 split.
Bottom line, if the RE kit is a little cheaper then the Zone kit, get it. I run a zone now, and would by another in a heartbeat, but my next lift will most likely be an RE.

Here ya go:

Two things to keep in mind when considering ride quality;
1.) Even the "Best" lift kit will ride like crap if you cheap-out on shocks.
2.) Boomerang style shackles will greatly improve ride quality and rear axle articulation.
