Default Rough idle after changing Crankshaft Position Sensor

Changed the CPS yesterday and now my XJ is idling rough (almost like a cylinder missing). New battery, new alternator. Any idea why this is happening?

Possibly a bad CPS. What are your specs. and what issues were you having that caused you to change the CPS?
Also was the replacement an OEM part, or aftermarket?

Jeep would shut don't randomly while driving and mechanic said the code referenced not recognizing the crankshaft sensor. Aftermarket part.

I think just about everyone on here agrees (which is odd for most public forums), that when it comes to the CPS, it's the OEM part that you want.

I have read a few past threads where people have replaced the CPS with a cheaper one off amazon.com and had problems. Then ended up replacing again with an OEM and fixed the problem.

I did read that it might be necessary reset the computer after changing the sensor, is this true?

Yup, it's a good idea to reset the computer any time you change out a sensor.
