Some people will argue ERW to save money, but for the time and effort put into a cage spend an extra couple bucks a foot and build one that will stand up significantly better on impact.

Run through the floors and weld to the frame. Never understood why anyone took the time to build a cage then weld it to the thin *** sheet metal on the floors like a lot of people do.
Agreed. I cut out my rockers and started with 2x5 then since the floor was already rotted away, Replaced it with 14 ga steel diamond plate with tie-ins and tied the interior B & C post to the rock rail/unibody rail to the roof portion.

i have 8 frame tie in points (2front bumper, 2 rear bumper, 4 sliders) 4 5x8" roof points, and 4 5x8" floor/wheel well points (floor mounting points will get runners to run from the floor to the frame rail on my next free weekend)

I agree there think I mite do a set of rock sliders and weld it to the frame that way so I dont have to go thru my roof. Just wondering if this will be strong enough to take a roll over or not

think about it if you have your sliders and then have brackets to your frame stiffeners then mount your cage to the brackets and your good that is what i am doing and you will still need to go through the roof bc of mounting them on the inside of the jeep unless you are going to have 2 x ten sliders

you need internal cross-bracing or the cage will not be as strong and will not standup very well to a roll

If anywhere has offered it for $3.10 a foot in the last couple years I'd have jumped all over it. $6-7 is pretty normal. Small pieces online go as high as $12.

What difference does it make? Just cut the holes with a hole saw and you can go back and weld around the tube without having to worry about anything leaking.

$5.60 a foot is what it's going for around here for 1 3/4"x. 120" dom. buy locally if possible.
