Rock Sliders
Alright so I bought my first XJ a few months back and it came with AJ's rock sliders already on. I currently have them off since i've been doing some body work and I sort of like the look without the sliders on.
My question is how useful are rock sliders realistically? I use it as my DD so I don't do too much offroading and when I do most of it is mud anyways, so would it be a bad call to leave them off? Or should I be good w/o running them?
Thanks!

If you don't touch rocks then you should be fine to not need them but if you want the support there are some nice flat sliders made by JCR that go over the existing rockers

If you never do rocks then it's fine, but just be aware your rocker panels are like butter when it comes to rocks. It will only take a single incident of poor judgement (dummy me) to smash them flat.

If there is any chance you will be wheeling over anything that gets to your rockers (including dirt mounds) I would put them back on. If there is zero chance, leave them off. Although if they are the ones with the kicker bar, having a step out there can be handy.

I much rather prefer the look with sliders on. Extra protection can never hurt. They're more than just "rock" sliders, they help with anything from fallen trees, small hills of dirt, etc. the rockers on these things are super weak, if you already have them, why chance it with them off? Just my reasoning.

It's not clear to me if we're talking about sliders with door-guards or without. I also like them without which makes them hardly noticeable. I suppose somebody could cut off the door guards, clean them up and paint.
Like this.
PS, my sliders with door guards show up tomorrow. I little too late to prevent the damage above.

I like my Rigidco Rx22 sliders they mount to the uniframe and and pinch rails they also tuck up flush so he bottom of he slider is flush with the pinch seam so there is no loss of clearance.
