I found a set of really cheap rims in craigslist. Theyre came stock in some jeeps they're called canyon. They have 5.5 backspacing and I was wondering with a 3 inch lift and 31 inch tires with that backspacing would anything rub or would I need spacers.

dont know how much this will help but i just recently put a 3inch rc lift on with some 31's on 15x8 with i think a 5 inch back spacing and it rubs the front plastics and the back of the left fender. im going to remount the same tires on my stock rims with the original 4.5 backspacing thats what i was told by a local xj fixer upper would solve my rubbing situation... im not really in to that whole cutting of the fender thing.

assuming your going to run 10.5" wide tires you will probably rub on the control arms at full lock. 5.5 isn't alot of backspacing, im pretty sure stock is 5.25

Yeah do you know if I used spacers if that would work? They are just a very good deal. 5 rims (in pretty good condition) for just over 100$. The person just needs to get rid of them. Also how tough is it to paint just small portions of a rims.

Seems like a pretty nice catch... 5 rims in good condition for $100...
It all goes down to how you'll gonna run it without rubbing...

every xj on 31s with a 3 inch lift iv seen in person rubs like this. you have to trim the back of the fender plastic out, also take the plastic out of the wheel well as pretty much all it does is sit there to catch your wheel and make a horrible rubbing nois

that's a good deal. plus those are TJ canyons which are 8" wide, the ZJ canyons are 7".

run a 1.5" wheel spacer and you'll be all set
