Default Replacing a yoke

Im looki.g at buying a 99 xj and the guy told me it needs a new yoke. So, I had my brother price one at advanced auto and his buddy the works there said usually if the yoke in shot, so is the differential... How much truth is behind this and is it difficult to reolace the diff. if that is true? Thanx

You need to take that on a part by part basis. A broken or damaged yoke doesn't necessarily mean the diff is bad. Waht kind of damage?

Not sure, havent gone and looked at it yet. I was told to check for fluid leaking, play in the drive shaft, and or a vibration while driving
