Default renix (bendix-9 brakes ) death trapp

i posted a while back about how i won a battle with chrysler on a break recall on an 89 cher. well everything was fine till yesterday as i came to a red lite the break pedal was pulsating on its own a little so as i drove a couple miles all seemed ok. so i figured i'll chec when i get home. so as i come to the next intersection i was jus tapping brakes and all seemed well, then all the sudden the pedal sucked to the floor and no brakes at all so i swerve around some cars using the shoulder then i take the right hand turn at the same speed i approached the light at 35 mph. pretty much drifted around just missing another car. all that happened so fast i never thaught about the emergency brake till i was out of harms way. pedal is still stuck to the floor. i had to carefully limp home with the emergency brake. this is a prime example of that recalled bendix-9 brake system that i faught so hard to have them fix. absolutly no warning to when this would happen. if you have this system change it and practice your e-brake untill u do.

THe Bendix -9 is a nightmare IMO.. I have a ABS Light on as well as the brake light .... it's stopped fine so far .... I think however sthe ABS manifold on mine is airbound. as when I shut it off it backlogs Brake fluid into the master cylinder and pukes all over the place. gonna pressure bleed it this week and see IF i can get it straight ... but I plan to swap out to a regular brake setup. Not sure what you all need to swap over other than the Master Cylinder and a Brake Booster.

What years did they put those brake systems on? I have a 90 Cherokee Laredo and was curious if they were on that year as well.

Default lesson learned

i shoulda took the $800 chrysler offered me for the jeep so they didnt have to fix the brakes. it has been one problem after another. always leaving me in a messed up jam.one time on i95 with no shoulder to get on. i had to jump out and run 100 yds away from the jeep as 1 out of 7 cars went into a death slide from hitting it. luckly tow truck came emideatly and put it in a safer spot.loose wire at the fuel pump that time and 120 doller tow job. i have another 89 in a little better shape. so i might let this one go.

could you not just cut the vessel lines and swap in a dual diaphragm booster?
you may have to redo the front brake hardlines, but it should be a simple swap...

i have my hands full with another 89 that is in better shape but it is also needy. and between the two 89s even the easy **** takes me all weekend. i am back to work after a long lay-off and just want my life back. got 4 xjs 2000 runs nice , 89 runs decent enough , another 89 no brakes at all , runs nice but it is trying to kill me , and a 95 parts jeep thats in a whole different group of xjs than the ones i have tagged. so if i tell chrysler im bringing the 89 back to fix brakes (on recall ) maby they will offer the 800 again and i'll take it.

Could you guys send picture of the high pressure vessel so I can see what it looks like. I don't believe I have that brake system. I also have noticed I have a belt squealing and I can't figure out why. The belt is tight and I have replace the old idler pulley and still squeals, any thoughts?
