Default Removable Hard Top

Getting ready to chop the top off my XJ this week. Wanting to take the back half and make it removable. Question is how can I get it to seal decently or possibly even perfectly. Wanting to ditch the lift gate for plexy glass or something simular so even with the top on I still have a bit of bed I can utilize. I realize that the top will be heavy but Im not to worried about the weight. Any and all help would be great.

Just cut it off and throw it away.

You're putting a cage in before you do this, right?

As Im doing it. Would it hurt anything if I waited a few weeks to do the cage as the Jeep stays street side now

Cage first then chop. Do it the opposite way and you risk caging a tweaked body, which would be pointless

Take some measurements on your xj first,Do like from the bottom of the side glass to top of the roof. From the back door jam to outer edge of the hatch. And open your hatch go by the widest part of the opening. Then take all the measurements off either hard top to see if its even close to fitting or not.Only thing else i can think of close would be maybe a early bronco or scout.

Yeah but might be the hardest one to find unless you just get lucky.
