What about a system that was welded on. I thought it was ok but then I heard some vague info on "no welding" but not really sure what that means. Here's mine but now I'm concerned it won't hold. Assuming these are "good" welds is this OK or not?

The 2 hook bolts? How can you tell without seeing the top? I'm not sure what they are but I'll check today.

Mine didn't come with the hooks either. So what I did was I went to the JY and found a bracket.. Only problem.. It was cut/shortened. So it only attached using 3 bolts.. Knowing that It was only a temporary thing and I had a bumper on the way I threw grade 8s in it and it's been fine. Totally sturdy I've pulled with it a few times. This obviously isn't ideal but of that worked I'm sure using the correct plate and hardware is more than fine. With welding it you should be perfectly fine as long as you get good penetration.

The jeep in the JY that I got my one hook from had two. But the right side bracket was welded on instead of bolted on..

Yeah those are nylock nuts from the looks of it. Anyways, grade 8 bolts are almost always yellow-zinc finished. The fact that the bolt has a silver colored finish would mean it's likely a grade 5 bolt.
