has anyone fabbed up their rear window to flip up on hinges so you can open just the glass instead of the whole hatch?

Then where do we ask fab questions? I have been lurking for a few months, and that still isn't very clear... A dedicated fab discussion section would be nice.

No this is chat. It was moved to chat from fab. You performing fab work like building said window is fab. Talking about it is chat. So now this is in the correct section.

 

And to answer you question I've never seen it done.. But it does come factory on 96 and up zj's

 

I've wanted to do this but the latching mechanism (that I would harvest from a ZJ) is a complicated integration. Plus, you'd have to drill the safety glass and the likelihood that it would just explode as soon as you tightened the hinge clamps is very high. I don't think it's possible but I may try picking up some stuff the next time I'm at the junkyard and try.

 

I've never seen it done. It would be sweet tho

 

thanks for moving it my mistake! i knew where i wanted to post but clicked the wrong thing. anyway yea ive never seen it and dont know how to go about it. maybe theres a way to make a removable back window
