Default rear axle

I'm sorry for posting another rear axle thread. its all been argued before
will someone just tell me which is best for my future setup. I want to decide once and for all
looked at all the entries for COTM. 4 pages worth. and I see a lot more D44's than 8.8
even though I've been told 8.8 is better. but its not drop swap and its got the damn c-clip. thats a hassle
D44 is appealing because I can get one that drops right in. no c clip. easy peasy
plans for::
I6 with ax15. IRO 5.5 LA on 33/12.5 wrongler duratrac 4.10 gears and my axles have to hold eaton e lockers

The problem with the XJ 44s is they are hard to find, when Exploder 8.8s are everywhere, supposedly stronger, and have disc brakes.

x2 and with the 8.8 no matter what your looking at a re gear for the front right away. Someone correct me if im wrong but I have never seen an 8.8 with 3.55 only 3.73 or 4.10.

also with the 8.8 you do get LSD.

It just all depends on how much work u want to put into in to it right now.

8.8 is stronger than a d44, has disk brakes, bigger everything, and a big aftermarket.

the swap itself is pretty damn easy and weld on swap kits are available a few place. and even with the price of an 8.8, plus all of the brackets you will still end up spending less than what most people charge for an XJd44.

and the c-clip is not a big deal at all, dont worry about it.

How does a rear end keep the axles in without a c-clip? the front dana 30's are non c-clip and the axles pull right out as soon as you pull the hub.

For an 8.8 on 33's I wouldn't be to worried about snapping an axle. And even if some freak occurrence happens and you do break a shaft... the disk brakes will do a good job of holding the everything together so you can get off the trail

Bearing plates that are pressed on the axle , then bolted to the diff ( like a dana 44)

8.8. You'll be fine. I've never broken a shaft in my 8.8 on 35s. Install it and forget it.
