I totaly would agree with you on this if you have been the one and only owner of the vehicle or that if you had bought it from someone that really took care of it since they had owned it. When i had bought my 94 they owner befor me told me that he changed the fluids on a regular basis because of the milage he was putting on itwhich makes perfect sense to do that but now my 98 is a whole different ball of wax I have changed the tranny fluid in it which the fluid looked like dirty oil that had been there for a while it was just as black as coal, I hasd went back to the previous owner and asked him when he changed the tranny fluid last and his response was that he had never did change any of the fluids in it for the 3 years that he owned it, he just kept adding.

89 XJ is my saily primary.
It's body currently a bit tired and sharing the daily responsibilities of dragging me and dog around with the 95 and 02 GC's.
All three run the 4.0L
89 at 755K Km (468K+mi), the 95 and 02 at about 350Kkm each.
XJ will spend a rehab session with the welder, armourer, and various accumulated parts as soon as the weather co-operates.
I am a strong advocate of regular fluid changes. Works for me.

It's funny, to this day, he and my mom, still ask how "Suzy" is doing. Myself and my wife just put a headliner in it, she painted the overhead console and speaker bar in the rear..."Suzy" is looking good for her age! Paint booth could be in the future for her.
Send some pictures when you are done getting "Suzy" all dolled up I would love to see her in a fresh coat of paint, are you going to put any graphics on her ?? I do some air brushing when i have the time to do it. I really think thats great how they ask about their old cherokee and what updates you are puting on her.
