My Radio on XJ makes noise on playing audio-cassette: The noise comes from the radio cage and it seems not on playback. I guess it is due to some internal drive mechanisms or electric motor: It is like a friction noise while tape turning. . What can I do ?

 

It's probably age, not much you can do. Mechanical components wear and break over time.

I'd be looking at a new head unit. This one seems to be giving you nothing but headaches.

I can tell that radio is the "European" version.
Different then the radios that we have here in the US.
Easiest way would probably be Ebay.
Not US Ebay but Ebay for countries in Europe.
There is what seems to be a pretty big XJ thing in the UK.
Might want to search Ebay in the UK.
Stalking Ebay over the years worldwide I have seen what I am pretty sure is that radio from time to time.
Thinking shouldn't be too hard to find one.
