Default radio install

Put a new hu in my 89. The pro had the cage installed through the dash bezel I bought a bracket and now the radio sits behind the bezel like it should but a little too far recessed. It looks funny to me and the buttons are hard to press.

Anyway how did everyone else install theirs?

Pre-97 bezels suck for radios. All of mine have sat too far back or too far forward.

Dash kit I had for my 92 wouldn't fit behind the bezel, but the opening is just slightly small enough that it overlaps on all 4 sides and holds the radio in place without a dash kit. Doesn't move and you would never know without taking the bezel off. Only time it sucks is if I'm doorless and have taken the face plate off.

I honestly think it looked better through the bezel but it was not as sturdy.

I would've mounted it through the dash rather than behind it. It's easy to secure it.

That may be what I do. I'm going to try to flip the bracelet around to shim it out a bit

Flipped the scosche bracket around so that it doesn't mount recessed, maybe I had it backwards not sure but then I had to trim out the dash bezel just a tad but it looks great and is more secure than mounting it in the bezel.
