R.I.P. REDMUCK
On my down to badlands, I kept smelling something burning, like paper burning,so I pull over and look under at everything and I don't see anything and a little smoke was coming up thru the carpet in back, bee's made a nest in my muffler,so i thought that was burning out. so I started driving again and more smoke coming up and I looked back and down,i had my back seat down,so I couldnt see the floor, but I seen an orange flickering glow. I pulled over real fast and slammed into park, grabbed the keys and my phone and ran to the other side and opened the rear door and and flames shot out. I grabbed my cooler and tried to put it out with water and pop,no go so i open up the rear , pull the winch and tools out with everything else and pull the seat up, and that's on fire and spread to the headliner and back and that was it. its all gone, the stuff I pulled out wasn't far enough and that got burned too.firetruck got there in five minutes after I called 911. I have a pic ill put on later.

how did you know that bees made a nest inside your muffler? how long had your jeep been sitting to allow the bees to build a nest? and how did you think it was a good idea to keep driving with a small fire happening inside your exhaust?
enough Cherokees have burned down to the point that everyone should know to carry a fire extinguisher. it's important
I feel your pain man, trust me. hopefully you know to stop next time your jeep is smoldering

I've got one of these mounted on each side. It was funny because two days after I installed them I saw a guy on the freeway whose Dodge Ram was on fire. It only took one of them to put the fire out (engine fire). The guy insisted on giving me $50 so I could replace the extinguisher (which was only $20) I used on his truck. I refused but while talking to me at the open window of my Jeep, he dropped the fiddy inside without me noticing, lol.
Sorry about your Jeep, man. There's no more helpless feeling than when your s**t catches on fire and you can't put it out.

It'll buff out...J/K
Glad that YOU are okay, that could have been much worse if you were injured or killed. Sucks to lose a ride like that, but it sounds like you got some good people looking out for you. Sorry for your loss, but, again, glad you are okay...

ok we got the trans and tc on the ground and 2 of the melted tires off the rims. the red Cherokee is a 91four door too with a 5 speed. I would rather have the auto, but after what we had to go thru to get it out of mine,i don't know if we want to put it in that red one. And being a 5 speed, would it have like 411's in the diffs?
