Question concerning saving old parts
So I just placed an order with Rustys for a replacement Tie Rod as the one on my XJ is bent(stock unit) Though its bent,it isnt causing me really too may handling issues. Vehicle pulls just a little, the steering wheel is off center. I dont see any odd tire wear, scrubbing or squealing at highway speeds.
So the question is,when I replace the tie rod, should I save the old one for a "just in case" scenario? Maybe take it with me on trail runs,to help a fellow "jeeper" should he/she have a mishap with a tie rod.
Good idea or should I just toss it in the trash?

Are you talking about tire wear with the old bent one or with the new one? I am gonna have the Toe Adjusted after installing the new one.
I see its mentioned that the Rustys will break...Anyone had bad experiences with a Rustys Tie Rod Upgrade?
Now im worried I may have wasted my money.
