alright so i found these and I kinda wanna pick em up, are these and the two hour drive worth it??
http://rockford.craigslist.org/pts/1302517019.html
i figured from looking at the skid plates on rustys, these would be a sweeeet deal, but i cant tell if they're just like stock ones off an up-country or something, or if they're pretty solid ones like what rustys has. any input will help, i really dont wanna drive two hours for crap!
oh yea and this guy said they're off a 99, and the add says 97-01, but they didnt change anything on the driveline so they would fit on my 96 right??
thanks guys.

Id say $60 is pretty good for three peices... Contact him and ask about dents, but front what I could see, they were covered with skuffs... I would expect to spray bed liner or something on them anyway...

yea, i would definitely respray them. herculiners a good idea tho, i guess im too dumb to of thought of that haha. thanks man. like i said in the first post, i just dont wanna drive down there for this stuff if its just all plain crap stock skid plates or something.
Then I would say they are stock skids, but they shouldnt be junk if they are...
How do those things mount on? If they do not come with proper hardware, they may not be worth it... I do know some have these clips that insert in holes with threads and thats how they mount...

that's a good deal, even tho they are all stock.
the gas tank one bolts to the same nutstrips that are used for the trailer hitch. if you don't have a trailer hitch, you'll only have a nutstrip on the passenger side, so you'll have to use washers or make your own nutstrip. so a search, it's been discussed before.
as for the front, it just bolts to the frame with a few bolts.
the transfer case skid just bolts to the crossmember and the frame rail behind where the crossmember bolts to.
even tho they're stock, it's still better than none.
and aftermarket ones will cost more than that for just the cheapest one.

They are worth it. The gas tank skid is pretty decent. The others can be better from aftermarket, but at a much higher price. I did'nt have the nutstrips for my gas tank skid, so I just used 3/8" self tappers.

The factory gas tank skid is a good unit, as mentioned you will need nut rails.
The factory t-case skid is decent if you drill the holes out, use larger diameter bolts, and fish serrated flange nuts inside the unibody rail... nutserts are a pita and will be weak, allowing the t-case skid to be ripped off the rig.
The front skid can be tossed in the recycle bin. It's just something to get hung up on.
