Well originally I was going to use craigslist and see if I could find some deals there; might still do that for the amp, but now it seems that I should be looking for new stuff. Maybe $200 or so? Once again I haven't really decided what I am going to do yet. Also looking probably more for loudness but still want it to hit all the tones you know? Nice deep sounds and everything.

Do you need EVERYTHING?(sub, amp, box, wiring kit) Or just sub and amp?
And do you just want a one channel amp for strictly the sub? Or would you like a multi channel one to run other speakers as well?
If you're looking for just sub and amp 200 isn't a bad price cap, but the more you spend the better you'll like it. And like I said before, pick out the sub you want, and find an amp that matches it well.(I'd say cap the sub price around 50 if on eBay so you have plenty left for the amp.)

I've been running the same set up for 6 years. Had it in 3 different vechicles. I've got 2 Boston Acoustic 12's and a Kenwood amp. Best damn quality I've ever had. I did go through a few other speakers...Kicker, Memphis, etc but always ended up putting my Bostons back in. I will say though, I had a Kicker CVT 10" in my little regular cab Tacoma behind the driver's seat and that little thing was the best damn $60 I spent. Amazing quality and sound for the small cab of that truck. But, in larger vechicles, it just didnt cut it.
Kickers are junk!!!!JL is the best sub around,Polk audio DXI SUBS (I HAVE N MY CHEROKEE) were 200$ NEW lifetime warranty from best buy.Im runningan 800watt amp,And they hit harder than any 12's (besides jl,and HIGHQUALITY fosgate ****) My JLs are the hardest hitting subs ever, great sound quality on the polks and the JL's.

High RMS wattage. Peak is like horsepower, just a pretty number on paper. RMS is like torque, the REAL driving force.
High efficiency/sensitivity. XXdb per XX watts. Good number here would be 90+db per watt.
I know I've already said it, but I'll say it again for added emphasis, MATCH YOUR AMP TO YOUR SUB. You're sub is worthless if the thing powering it doesn't know what to throw at it.

I still say you should buy new stuff. You blow 200 bucks on a junk amp and a blown woofer that you found on craigslist, you'll be money ahead buying new stuff with a warranty.

How much roughly would all new everything be with the enclosure and wiring and everything? Also I guess I should be looking to get a ported box because I want it to be loud correct?

How loud you want to bump is the question. I like alpine type r for price and quality. 1 12 in ported box with name brand amp pushing 600wrms will make some noise. Want more 2 10s or 2 12s but go ported. Sonic electronic has good prices on alpines an many others subs, amp, boxes

A ported box will give you loud. A sealed box will give you a better quality sound. I ran 4 12's in my car just for the hell of it. One box ported and one sealed. Ended up selling the ported box and speakers because I wanted good sound over loud.
