Default Problem With Mold

My 87 Cherokee has a little mold problem. There is some on the door panels and overall things feel a little damp in it. The rundown on the Jeep is as follows: Blown head gasket for the past 4 months. Has been sitting outside under cover (Under a canopy, not a tarp). No headliner. I start it every once in a while, but all the moisture this time of year is putting a hurt on my Jeep. I have no choice, but to leave it outside. :/ I am in the stages of building a stroker motor, However it will not be on the road again until at least next Autumn. Possibly longer. I have a Container inside it with Dry-Z-Air pellets, and alothough it's soaking up water in the bottom, the mold is still growing. Anbody got some suggestions? I'm kind of in a pickle.

Mold is never easy once it finds a home. I had a boat that I fought with mold in every summer. There are some products you can get but once moister has breached its impossible to deal with. It needs to fully dry out and you need to get behind the door pannels as well. I would take the pannels off and spray them with some mold cleaner like lysol. The mold isnt just growing on the surface so you have to get inside and out of those pannels. You need to find out why so much moister is getting in. Make sure you have your A/C vent turned off. Go to a boat shop and find someone who is helpful and knows what they are talking about. They can give you some pointers and offer some products to help this stuff.

I tried that. Don't know if it really worked. I couldn't tell any difference.

Maybe I am confused but there are several guys without headliners and no moisture problems. I dont understand what the headliner has to do with it. Headliners are not moisture barriers. I had a buddy who told me to close off my airvents when not driving. He told me that after heavy rains moisture would somehow get in through those and smell moldy after a few days. I have not had this issue but this was what he told me. He said not just close but turn the vent system to off.

Well, it's been in the 40s during the day here and 30s at night. And raining like crazy. The Jeep sits all of the time with no heat at all. When I get in, I can feel the condensation on the inside of the windows and the bare metal roof.

Check the seals around your windshield. Thats seems to be a common water leak in these as they get older. The unibody is rough on those window seals over time. You obviously need to dry that thing out but you need to find the leak.

I'm sure the windshield does. As well as the door seals. They are all original......That's what I'm trying to figure out how to do.
