Default is the price right?

i dont really know where to post this but i found this xj on CL, and i went and checked it out. Thing is in super nice condition with 1 owner. I was thinking of offering like 5700 after. Idk, seems fair to me. What do you think?

01 has some downsides, low pinion front diff, Dana 35 rear (if ABS equipped), coil on plug technology (some like this, some don't). But the BIGGEST is the cylinder head of 00-01 has some cracking issues.

A 97-99 w/o ABS would be a better bet overall.

Offer $5K, no more than $5500, definately ask if the head has been replaced or not, if it has walk away, I say this because if the head cracked you dont know how long it went before it was fixed, and the damage to the bearings.

I agree. As much as I like XJs, for that money you could get a Grand Cherokee with a V-8.

Hell no I wouldn't pay 5000 for that. Figure in the fact that dealer adds make the car look and seem 10 times better than it really is. Also add says alloy wheels, and alloy those are not, which means they didn't blue book it right. I wouldn't go higher than 3500, but I wouldn't buy an xj from a car lot anyway.there are just too many great deals from private sellers who can actually talk to you about what you are buying.

Based on all the above posts I would pass. Thousands of them out there for less money and less possible issues to arise. Now if you can get it for $3500 or so maybe...but we know that no stealership is going to come down that much.

I'd definitely pass. I'm not sure what they're smoking, but that thing isn't worth more then probalby 4k or so. I paid $3500 for my 99 Sport. 8.25 Rear end, towing package and 130k miles. Keep looking, you'll find something better.
