So my girlfriend just put $30 worth of premium gas into my XJ. Will that harm her?

No, but its a waste of money. Whole thread about it that goes scientifically/mathematiclly/and theoretically in depth.

A higher grade of fuel will not harm an engine, it will not help with horsepower, it will not help with mileage. Higher octane just burns slower than the 87 octane, our 8:1 compression engines will never need to burn premium.

it will burn a little bit hotter but nothing to worry about.
