Default Possible Opportunity?

So, there is a chance that I can get my first XJ back (1990).

When me and my parents had it, 4 years ago, we gave it to our neighbors.(it had a severely blown head gasket) They took it, fixed it, got it running great. year later they sold it to a friend of ours. He redid all the paint, even the "limited" stripe. He likes to buy cars, then sell em, so he sold it for $500 bucks....He doesn't need money, he is very well off. Anyways, its now sitting down the road a few houses down from my parents. Talked to our friend and he said everything is great but 1 thing, and theres a chance the guy will give it to me for free if I talk to him.

Only issue with it is sometimes it wont go into OD....never hurts go ask the owner....

If this chance came up, would you take it?

Kinda a silly question to ask.

I don't know anyone here who would pass up on a possibly free jeep just because OD doesn't work sometimes. I'd go for it in a heartbeat.

Even if it needs the trans rebuilt you'll have a nice xj under a grand total.

Even less than that if I take to my friend whose certified in tranny rebuilds., He'll do it for free as long as I help....but I don't think it needs a rebuild. never know though.

A clean jeep with NO RUST?!?! and you're debating it for FREE?? are you on drugs? take it!!! even if it needs a motor, chances of finding another clean shell are slim to nil

Free is free. It's worth $$ in scrap, worse case scenario. Plus you know history on it. Nothing is free in life. Take this opportunity.

Go talk to him, I have a buddy who worked at Trans shops for 20 years he has seen 3 AW4's come in needing rebuilds all of them needed to be rebuild cause they ran dry. Most of the time the Shift Solenoids go out and they are cheap !
