POR15 / Chassis Saver / Monstaliner...need suggestions
Hello all,
So now that the weather is finally getting nicer I'm planning my rust repair project with my XJ. Mostly my floorboards (surface rust) and I have one hole in my rocker panel that I plan on filling with some fiberglass filler. I've been reading a lot about POR-15 and Chassis Saver and seem to read 50/50 things on both of them. Some say it turns out amazing, others say it sucks even after all the prep work (which I know is the key). My question is, how do you go about applying bed liner (I'm planning on Monstaliner) on top of this stuff? I do want to utilize it for undercoating as well. I don't plan on Monstalining underneath but maybe just the POR15 or chassis saver. Any thoughts? Total newb here with body work but know how to do my research! Haven't found a lot of good answers on this specific question though. Thanks

I've used POR15 for rust and patching up some small holes with fiberglass matting. I had good luck with it with holes no begger than a nickle. The stuff does not stick to painted surfaces, only rusty metal, and it will not stand up to the sun's UV rays for very long.

POR15 is pretty sweet. you just clean off the rusted area really well and start brushing. this stuff sticks like crazy and bonds with the rust and stops it from continuing. and a small can goes a long way. I have my front axle coated with it and I drag it over rocks and it still hasnt cut through to the bare housing yet. I'll definitely be using it for my chassis. only downside is PRICE. upside is less prep work
