Poor gas cherokee ckassic 98

I have a poor gas mileage on my 4.0 cherokee classic 1998

How poor? About 15-17 mpg is normal under most conditions. Poor by modern standards, but when the XJ was designed in the early 1980s most 4x4 vehicles could barely break into double-digit gas mileage.

Other than the lousy fresh out of the factory gas mileage these old Jeeps have, there are other things that make it even worse.
Like bad 'lead foot' driving habits, stopping right before stop signs/lights, oversize tires, engine needing a tune up, Winter blend fuel, dirty air filter, etc.

If you bought one of these old Jeeps for some 30mpg gas mileage, sorry you're out of luck. It is what it is.
