Default play in rearend

96 cherokee. tranny is tight, splines are good on the yoke, ujoints are good and ring and pinion are in good shape also but there is still play in it. do u think this could be fixed by putting a new crush sleeve in it and if so any good tips on how to set backlash. C8.25 axle

Thought this was gonna be totally different base on the title...
Mind=gutter.

As far as your problem, is it just rotational play? If so they are meant to have a little bit.

You asked how to set the backlash so you must know that there is some play in the differential.
So what do you mean when you say play? How much play? Does the yolk turn freely or does it move up and down?
Saying that it has play doesn't really tell anyone what is going on in the differential.
