Passing inspection...uh ohh...
Hey everyone! I just bought a 95 Cherokee sport two days ago and I'm really happy with it. but I need to do a couple things to it before I can get it inspected.. I need too...
Fix the floor panels
get tires
get wheels
lift it
get the front left u joint (maybe ball joint? says on a piece of paper)
So I'm having the mechanic down the road do the u joint/ball joint.
My brother get's 30 percent off at pepboys so I'm getting AT2 tires, and pro comp rims for $800 total.
FLOOR PANNELS
I was thinking about going with this and then pop riveting it in place.
http://www.quadratec.com/products/72608_8500_07.htm
Would I need something to seal it so water doesn't come in and out? Also after I do that would I want a rubberized undercoating to spray underneath, and something to go on top?
And does anyone have information links/advice when doing this? I have replaced floors on my old boat but that was wooden and nothing like this..
LIFT
I was thinking this lift,
http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_3.html (with rear springs)
http://www.xtremeterrain.com/3suspen...-02jeepxj.aspx (with rear spring)
It's the same lift, but depends what else I can get from them too..
I heard from my brother's friend that after doing a lift I need to get
upper adjustable control arms
lower adjustable control arms
adjustable track bar
Why do I need them ^ and any good places to get them?
Also is there anything else I need for my lift?
I'l post pictures in a the next post..

As you can tell by the right doors there is rust here, you can even see the floors. So I'm sure the front drivers side floor panel will replace it. Now how to installing it is my problem. I'm guessing grind out the area to fit the floor panel, then pop rivet it in place (I'm not sure where to pop rivet it tho) After that I'm lost.

To get the toyota truck I owned for a year passed, I cut out the affected area, put some thin metal, riveted in place. Covered with fiberglass, and a healthy coating of rubberized undercoating.
Not really the best of fixes but it will get you a sticker.

Do you suggest using metal plates? Or the thing that they sell online? I don't know what metal plates go for right now.

depends on the intentions you have for the jeep, beat the **** out of it then junk it ?
keep it forever?
My advice would be to do it right the first time and weld new metal in.
Theres a link in my sig of how to overkill it haha

The rust stops at the frame but it's that long strip.
Any suggestions?

take out carpet, and seats
take out rusted area
sand, and wire brush the area's that the new floor boards will be on
pop rivet metal into place
bedline the outside and inside of the metal that I put in.
There is no seal that I need for the pop rivets? Just rivet, then bedline?
What I will do is check it all for rusted floor boards, and any rusted out parts I'l replace and bedline the entire floorboards?

Id paint before I riveted with some rust inhibitor like navy jelly. Get it at home depot. I've used self tapping screws too. And spray foam works wonders for hiding holes and such.
Just remember that whatever you give the ol' hack job to now will have to be re-done later if you intend to keep it.

You don't need adjustable upper/lower control arms, or adjustable track bar for only 3" of lift. I have the same kit and the only thing I added was. 1" transfer case drop to help with vibes. Now I have fixed lower control arms and an adjustable track bar, but they aren't necessary.
By all means if you need a new track bar, get an adjustable one. But if the tie rod end and bushing are good on your stock one, don't worry about it.

I ordered the Rough Country 3" Suspension Lift Kit, Hydro 8000, Rear Springs from morris 4x4 center, and I got a free 75 piece socket set for free! So I'm exited for all of that. I got the 180lb front coils for when I put the bumper on that I'l be buying soon.
I also ordered the replacement floor panels. My brother and I are going to go to Fort Meade's garage and get the lift, floors, and exhaust (I bought a super 44 flow master, and new tailpipe, old one was messed up). We are going to weld it all, and put on the AT2 tires that I will be buying tomarow.
